Close your eyes
and tell me what
you hear
The laughter of
a flowing stream,
birdsong in the air,
the whisper of the wind
moving invisibly
through the trees
Gentle waves
along the shore
rushing as they approach,
then softly receding
The music of butterfly wings,
and the sound of
your own heartbeat

Close your eyes
and tell me what
you feel
Sadness or peace,
fulfillment or loneliness
Quiet yearning
Emptiness
waiting to be filled,
wanting to find
that which is needed
The tangled void of self,
and the aching sense of not yet
being complete

Close your eyes
and tell me what
is important
Self truth,
self knowledge,
self realization
Inner light
and outer,
the same but different
All one,
yet separate
Responsibility,
self respect
and to thine own self
be true
always
and forever

Close your eyes
and tell me what
you have
Love
and light,
hope and joy,
wonder
and beauty
The ability to grow,
and the desire
to do so

Close your eyes
and take a breath
Let your spirit
soar away
A flight of fancy,
soaring-light
and soaring light
Spiral slowly upward
from below
to join the
light above,
ever flowing,
softly felt
Becoming
evermore
